Fresh, delicious, and divine. These three words describe my first visit to Walker’s Fish Market. It was one of my closest friends birthday on Tuesday. She had decided for all of us to try Walker’s Fish Market in Milton for her birthday dinner. It was amazing everything from the service, to the atmosphere, and last but certainly not least the fresh seafood. Also it is hard to find a decent steak in Milton, but Walker’s Fish Market does a magnificently cooked and juicy steak. Going to the Galaxy Movie Theatre I had always noticed the Walker’s Fish Market Restaurant, never thought to go in and try it out, that was my mistake!

When buyers and their agents come to show your property there is a few rooms buyers want to make sure they do not have to “update” or “renovate”. The bathroom is definitely one of these rooms. Once you have gone through this inexpensive step by step guide, your bathroom will look brand new and impress any buyers that come through your home!

 Look around, up and down!

First off clear the clutter and empty the cabinets, get rid of all garbage and unnecessary items! Then take a look, make sure there is no water mildew on the ceiling, the taps and faucets are running properly, the flooring is in good shape. If all need fixing, then head on over to your nearest home renovation store.

For the ceiling all you need to do isscrub the walls with a strong solution that is call trisodium phosphate and water. Afterwards use a chlorine bleach and swab the affected areas of the ceiling, let it be for about two hours. Rinse the ceiling thoroughly with water wait for it to dry then use a primer with a stain killing agent, let the primer dry then paint with a mildew resistant latex paint!

For taps and faucets and shower heads shop around to different home stores and find good quality items for a decent price. If the existing faucets and or shower head in your bathroom are in good condition but are clogged, then all you need is CLR. Put a fair amount in a glass bowl and let the faucet or shower head soak for two minutes, afterwards rinse with warm water!

If the flooring in your bathroom needs an update there are ways to fix it up without hurting the wallet. At any home store you can find peel and stick vinyl flooring. Very inexpensive and easy to apply, all you do is peel and stick, also it give the look of tile and has some texture. If you would want the floor to look more like a ceramic tile then add grout! If you don’t mind spending more on the flooring there are many other types you can go with, a ceramic look very nice in a bathroom!

 Create an illusion!

Purchasing a large mirror will create the illusion that the bathroom is larger than it really is. Also when choosing a mirror you do not have to go with the standard rectangle shape, if you like a more modern look go with a circular or even a few smaller mirrors place in a row. A great place to find inexpensive mirrors is at Ikea!

Make Great use of Your Space!

A bathroom looks much better and more comfortable, when there is no dirty clothes or towels on the floor, or perfume and toothbrushes/toothpaste all over the counter. Having a small cabinet or storage unit in your bathroom will make it look clean and tidy. Also at Ikea there is inserts for drawers or cabinets with sections, so you can organize all your bathroom needs. Another great tip, since the counter will be cleared off, you could add some scented candles or popery to add some fragrance and calmness!

 LIGHTS, Camera, Action!

Adding a simple yet elegant light fixture does a lot to a bathroom. Also pot lights are very popular! Having a dimmer switch is also a great idea, since the bathroom is where you can relax and soak away your troubles and have a relaxing level of light makes a big difference!

Last But Not Least the Theme!!

Having a theme and sticking to it, is very important. The theme brings the whole bathroom together. A popular theme for a bathroom is a day at the beach. This theme suggests neutral colours for decor and accessories. Also you could have little framed pieces of art on the walls that correspond with your theme!

	Parents:
10 Tips to Prepare Young Children for a Move
________________________________________
"Allowing your child to decide what to do with his/her worn toys provides them a feeling of control in a situation that is largely, out of their control."
________________________________________
Over the years, many studies have been conducted to define and rank which typical life experiences cause the greatest amount of stress for the average adult. For anyone who has had to make a move, it probably comes as no surprise that moving ranks within the top 10 of the most stressful events… and once you add children to the equation, the stress level only increases.

We have compiled the following tips to help parents prepare their young children for a move, and to also help them adjust to their new home and community once the move has taken place.

	1. Tell your children about the upcoming move as soon as possible.
Waiting until the For Sale sign appears on your lawn, or having your kids find out about the move from neighbors, will only leave them feeling left out and most likely, angry.

	2. Discuss with your children, in an age-appropriate manner, some of the pros and cons of moving.
Most children get great comfort from simply being heard, and by being assured that their parents are committed to helping them adjust to a new environment.

	3. Encourage your children to help you investigate your new community.
Most cities or towns have their own website, which they use to advertise and promote life in their community. In addition to finding information on the area lifestyle, you should also find a list of the local amenities, such as schools, places of worship, recreation centres, community sports associations, and parks. Most community sites will also include locations of the nearest shopping malls, movie theatres, and special attractions such as water parks, horse stables, and public beaches.

	4. When packing, resist the urge to throw out all of your children’s old, unused toys.
Instead, ask your children to help you prepare for packing by separating their toys into three piles. Pile 1 comes with them to the new house. Pile 2 is for donating to a local shelter or community centre, and pile 3 is only for those toys that they understand are beyond repair, and for safety sake, should be thrown away. Allowing your child to decide what to do with his/her worn toys provides them a feeling of control in a situation that is largely, out of their control.

	5. Pack any young children’s belongings last; allowing them prolonged access to their familiar possessions reduces their anxiety.

Ask your children to help you pack some of their belongings into boxes; and be sure to explain that the boxes, and every item that goes into the box, is going to be unpacked at the new house. Assemble some fun packing materials; a variety of brightly coloured (washable) markers for writing their name on each of their own boxes, bubble wrap for swaddling their dolls and soft toys, and a selection of stickers to decorate, and easily identify what is in each of their boxes.

	6. Take your children to visit the new home at least once prior moving day, and be sure to keep the visit short, and upbeat.

	7. Ask your child if he/she would like to have a moving party.
Invite his/her friends over to enjoy a night of pizza and movies. Take pictures of each guest posing with your child using an instant or digital camera. Keep one copy for your child, and give one copy to each guest to take with them.

	8. Most kids make new friends at school fairly easily, but if your moving date is scheduled after the end of the school year, your child could be facing a long, lonely summer break.

To keep your child from feeling isolated you will have to take steps to help him/her meet some new friends. Soon after moving into your new home, ask your neighbors if there are children of the same age close by. Ask those neighbors who have young children if they are interested in allowing your children to play together at the local park during supervised play dates.

	9. Once the move has taken place, organize a "family exploring day".
Let your children help you plan an afternoon walk, or scenic drive through a specific part of your new town. By doing this, you will not only be helping your children to familiarize themselves with their new community, but your family will also be creating fun, new memories associated with your new home.

	10. Involve your children in deciding how to decorate their new bedrooms.
Even the youngest child should have some of their ideas incorporated into the new design. Whether it’s a big decision (choosing the wall color), or a small decision (selecting just the right spot for his/her toy box), giving your child “a say” helps them to embrace their new space.

Above all, keep the communication lines open - before, during, and after the move. Depending on the child, it can take anywhere from a few days to many months to adjust to their new surroundings.

Country Home in Campbellville/Milton!

Immaculately maintained country home in Campbellville/Brookville area will be for sale as of Monday July 11th. It can be very frustrating when we see a thick coating of snow on our streets after a blizzard or snow storm. Or even worse when the car parked out front is “plowed’ in. To prevent this issue do not park on Milton streets longer than 3 hours. If the street is getting plowed while parked, the by-law is not in effect; the vehicle could be ticketed or towed at owner’s expense! The plow system this winter works like this; there is more than 1,500 lane km of Regional & Town roads. Snow plowing starts when there is 2 cm of snow on the ground, the roads are in a list of priority; Regional roads, arterial and collector roads, then urban and rural residential roads.

Regional, arterial, and collector roads should be cleared within 2-12 hours after a storm.

Rural collector and industrial roads cleared in 5-16 hours.

Urban and rural residential can take from 8-24 hours to sand or plow to a snow packed surface.

Sidewalks & pathways for school, and transit routes are also in a list of priority, and they will get cleared after 5 cm of snow.

For Milton citizens who live on residential streets be prepared this winter, have snow or all season tires on, because it could get slippery!

Since Halton Hills is one of the fastest growing communities in Ontario it would make sense for the consumers to have an opportunity to purchase designer brands and labels from a variety of merchandisers. Not only is this a fantastic addition to the Halton Hills community, this will benefit the surrounding towns and cities such as; Acton, Georgetown, Brampton, and Mississauga. The project’s estimated date of completion should be April 2013, when finished the Tanger Outlet Factory should be as large as 350,000 square feet. As a member of the Halton Community I cannot wait for this new addition to be completed. I predict this will benefit our town and increase our property values.

Cheryl's Country Cookhouse Milton Ontario

Just enjoyed an amazing lunch today at Cheryl's Country Cookhouse, menu full of homemade meals!
Once again this year, CityTV’s Breakfast Television will be on hand covering the event live as they did last year.

Residents and corporations are encouraged to make a donation towards the purchase of toys. Cheques should be made payable to: The Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation C/O: Troy’s Toy Drive. All donations should be made prior to December 18th — the shopping spree is planned for the following day, December 19th!

Any assistance you can provide by spreading the good word of the event by forwarding this link to your list of friends/contacts would be greatly appreciated. The main objective is to get as many people aware of this worthy cause as possible because no child should go toyless on Christmas morning.

Toys are being collected for the Salvation Army, Halton Women’s Place and for the children at Sick Kids Hospital.

If you would like to drop off some toys in person, you and your family are invited to attend the big event on the morning of December 20th.

On the chance you can make it, then be sure to set your PVR to record Breakfast Television, because you just might get caught on television!
